There are a lot of options out there. Not every program is created the same. See below what our strengths, coaching style and philosophies are!
Hull Hockey opened its doors in 2017. It was built on the belief that the best players are the best skaters. Just like hockey players, skating was, and still is, the foundation and most crucial part of hull Hockey’s growth.
Through camps, clinics, individual and group lessons, Hull Hockey brings a unique high energy, player-specific attention and unmatched enthusiasm to every single session.
We hope you can feel the energy and passion by reading below! Are you ready to Experience the difference?
Customized Learning Environment
What makes Hull Hockey different is their natural gift to quickly assess each athlete and then connect with them individually for a customized learning environment. Every single player has a different way of learning. Hull Hockey has mastered the skill to recognize and adapt their teaching style to each player to ensure they are not only having fun, but are also challenged to the best of their ability while also feeling accomplished. One reason why every single player gets so much out of each skate with us is the fact that we provide a engaging learning atmosphere for each and every player regardless of the age or level.
Instantaneous Improvisation
One our of specialities is running our athletes through drills ranging from basic to extremely challenging at a pace you won’t find anywhere else. Our intensity, reps and super high quality drills mean everything to us. Regardless of age or level, players will be immediately evaluated & assessed in anything we do on the ice and our expert coaches will instantly be able to tailor the focus of the little details to each player creating an on-the-spot targeted development approach. With our coaches being able to improvise and adjust seamlessly on the fly, player engagement and motivation to accomplish the patterns of the drills to the best of their ability will become automatic and instinctive.
🚦S-C-T Style Training
Hockey is one of the most technical sports in the world, so doing these drills, especially the little details in the drills, correctly is super influential to overall development. The little details usually carry the biggest impact which is why it is so important to correct the kids. We have all heard the term, “Going through the motions,” and we know this isn’t exactly a positive term. We don’t want the kids just going through the motions in these drills. We want them doing them right. With the structure of these drills, the reps are high, the intensity is fantastic and the energy is automatic if the coach is engaged, so stopping the drill to correct the kids isn’t an issue and doesn’t waste time. We have come up with the phrase, “S-C-T” – Stop – Correct – Teach.
- STOP – Stop the drill if they are doing it incorrectly or semi-incorrectly.
- CORRECT – Correct the kids. Show them what they were doing incorrectly and then show them the correct way of doing it.
- TEACH – Teach them. Explain to them the ‘why’ we do it this way and ‘why’ we don’t do it the other way.
Transformative Connection
Our staff has always been dedicated to helping our players from the get go. None of our coaches are there to just collect a paycheck. They know what it takes to make a difference. Our staff is constantly growing and constantly improving. We guarantee you that the value we bring through teaching in a high energy and industrious culture will transform the way you think about coaching. We are paving the way for setting exceptional coaching standards. We invest a lot into our coaches and we just know you will see and feel the difference.
High Level Demonstrations
We know how important it is for the players to visually see what we are working on. More and more kids these days are visual learners. Not only can we break everything down verbally to the exact language of players despite the age, but we can also demonstrate our own drills, especially highlighting those little details that make the biggest differences. One big benefit of having the ability to demonstrate is the fact that the kids know that specific skills or movements are physically possible. Seeing it in real time gives the players *that* much more of an incentive to challenge themselves to execute as best as they can.
