Leave.No.Doubt.
Our mission is to provide every athlete and family with more than just a hockey camp…we’re creating an experience.Β This comprehensive pre-tryout camp is designed to help players prepare physically, mentally, and emotionally for one of the most important moments of their season. Through self-compete-based training, mindset development, and confidence-building strategies, athletes will gain the tools they need to compete at their highest level. Our goal is to ensure every player walks into tryouts prepared, confident, and ready to succeed, regardless of the outcome.
This is Not Your Average Pre-Tryout Camp β οΈ
Hull Hockey is taking a major step toward helping players and parents develop a positive mindset and a healthy perspective, regardless of the outcome. By emphasizing personal growth, resilience, and the process of transformation, Hull Hockey is creating an culture where success is measured by progress, character, and effortβ¦not just the final score.
β¦And even better, the results we are seeing from it are borderline unbelievable.
The purpose is simple: Itβs time to start focusing on yourself, not others.
Too often, we fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others, especially after being outperformed by someone else in some form or another. In those moments, it’s easy to let comparison turn into self-doubt. Instead of motivating us, it often fuels negative thoughts, which can quickly develop into a negative mindset that undermines confidence and growth.
Every Single Rep Counts
Every rep matters. When players step into Hull Hockey’s welcoming, challenging, and rewarding environment, they are given the opportunity to become the best version of themselves. In a culture where players feel safe, supported, and confident to be who they are, growth happens, and that’s where the real magic begins.
This is an opportunity to reignite a relentless drive to improve, compete, and perform at your highest level, right before tryouts.
Most importantly, it’s an experience where players build confidence, create lasting friendships, and have some of the most fun they’ll ever have while developing their game.
The Little Things
As we’ve already established, every rep matters, but only if you make it matter. The value of every save, movement, and recovery comes from the intention, focus, and purpose you bring to each repetition.
The goalies who consistently improve and separate themselves from the rest all share a few common traits. First, they have an unwavering commitment to becoming the best version of themselves every time they step into the crease. Second, they understand that elite goaltending is built on mastering the smallest details, every single day.
We don’t let the little details slide. Our goalies develop simple, disciplined habits that lead to cleaner movement, better positioning, faster recoveries, and more consistent performances when the game is on the line.
Here’s something every goalie should know: coaches and evaluators notice the little details. Often, they reveal more about a goalie than a highlight-reel glove save ever could. Great habits show up on every shot, not just the difficult ones.
So, what are some of these small details?
Setting your feet early. Be stopped and square before the shot whenever possible. Good positioning and patience consistently beat desperation.
Recovering with purpose. Every rebound or scramble is an opportunity to regain structure. The best goalies recover under control instead of chasing the play.
Tracking the puck all the way in. From release to save to rebound, disciplined eyes and head tracking improve reads, control rebounds, and eliminate unnecessary movement.
Playing every shot the same. A routine wrist shot in practice deserves the same focus and technique as a breakaway in overtime. Consistency is what builds confidence.
Finishing every rep. Too many goalies mentally check out once the initial save is made. Complete every sequenceβ¦control the rebound, recover to your feet, reset your angle, and be ready for the next shot. Great habits don’t stop when the whistle should have blown.
Competing on every puck. Whether it’s the first drill or the final rep of a demanding session, your effort and focus should never change. Fatigue is often when your habits are exposed, and when real improvement happens.
The little details may seem insignificant in the moment, but they compound over time. Master them consistently, and you’ll become a goalie your teammates trust, your coaches rely on, and your opponents struggle to beat.
